Bridgestone Corporation announced that its subsidiary in China, Bridgestone (Shenyang) Tire Co., Ltd. (Shenyang Plant), will build a new manufacturing facility as part of its relocation project. The Shenyang Plant, currently located in Shenyang City in the Liaoning Province of China, manufactures truck and bus tires. In accordance with Shenyang City development policies, which were revised following an urbanization plan in the area surrounding the Shenyang Plant, the plant will be relocated to Shenyang Chemical Industry Park. The site for the plant was acquired in 2012, and has been approved for the construction of manufacturing facilities, including tire production. The total investment is $299.7 million (approximately 24.5 billion yen), and includes construction of the plant and production equipment. Production capacity at the Shenyang Plant is anticipated to be 5,000 tires per day. The plant is scheduled to begin operating at its new site in 2014. Globally, the Bridgestone Group strives to work together with local governments to contribute to the development of the regions where we operate. At the same time, the group is developing systems to enhance its "speed to market" in order to quickly meet the product needs of its customers.
