After several months of trial production, Hankook Tire's Chongqing plant was officially put into operation. The new plant is located in Chongqing Municipality Liangjiang District Yuzui industrial park. Total investment in the plant amounts to USD 954 million and covers an area of about 796 acres. The plant will focus on the production passenger car, truck and bus tires. The factory's four phases of construction are expected to be completed by the end of 2015, when the annual production capacity will reach 11.6 million, including 1.6 million truck and bus tires. Capacity at the plant is expected to reach 2,400 tires per day by the middle of this year. By year-end 2015, output will expand to 10 million car tires and 1.6 million tires for trucks and buses.
