China Manufacturers Alliance L.L.C. (CMA) has broken ground on a 129,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Rancho Cucamonga, which it expects to have in operation before year-end.

The new facility, being on a six-acre plot of land near the intersection of 8th Street and Vineyard Avenue in Rancho Cucamonga, will replace a smaller, leased facility in San Dimas, Calif., the company said.

CMA, a subsidiary of China's Double Coin Holdings Ltd., put the scale of investment in the "millions" of dollars and said it is evaluating the feasibility of additional warehousing "inside and outside" of the U.S. as demand warrants.

The building design includes dock-high and grade-level bay doors with stalls for parking additional trailers, CMA said. To achieve a lower carbon footprint, natural lighting and exhaust systems are integrated into the building's design.

CMA Vice President Aaron Murphy called Rancho Cucamonga "an ideal and strategic location to support our expanding distribution needs".

CMA hosted councilmen from Rancho Cucamonga, executives from the project's developers, DCT Industrial, and property management executives from Newmark Grubb Knight Frank at the recent groundbreaking ceremony.

Monrovia, Calif.-based CMA also operates a warehouse in Memphis, Tenn.

Besides the Double Coin brand, CMA imports and distributes the Bluestar, Dynacargo, Dynatrail, Superhawk and Warrior associate brands.

A specialist in truck, off-road and industrial tires, CMA is planning to add Warrior-brand passenger and light truck tires to its product portfolio in the coming years. The tires are to be built by a joint manufacturing venture involving Double Coin Holdings and Group Michelin.
