Although the North American and European markets for synthetic latex polymers remain the largest consumers, with around 56 percent of a global volume of approximately 10 million tons, strong shifts are being seen in markets as diverse as China, India and the Middle East.

These are recent findings in the report "Synthetic Latex Polymers Global Series: Business Analysis and Opportunities," by market research and management consulting firm Kline & Company.

"With growth notably outpacing mature markets, China now claims a quarter of global SLP consumption, but it's the comparatively smaller markets of India and the Middle East that are gaining significantly greater importance and rank among the fastest growing," said Nikola Matic, Kline's Chemicals & Materials Practice industry manager.

While the report predicts that global SLP consumption will grow by 2.3 percent through to 2017—with both the U.S. and Europe expected to see growth of less than 2 percent—China, India and the Middle East are forecast to exceed this average comfortably by growing 7.1 percent, 12.4 percent, and 5.4 percent, respectively.
