Baling Petroleum & Chemical’s Research on Solid Tire Rubber Production

In early April, four thermoplastic rubber SEBS production lines at Sinopec Baling Petrochemical Synthetic Rubber Division worked at full capacity and produced 11 grades SEBS, with the daily output stabilizing at around 150 tons; among them, the special grades used for shared bicycles will "Transmutation" into colorful tires in order to push the development of public "green travel".

Shared bicycle economy has been the hottest topic on the internet recently. In big cities, shared bicycles can be seen everywhere on streets. As the old saying goes, “Fine feathers make fine birds", the quality of bicycle tires is the key to success. Baling thermoplastic rubber SEBS has many good features such as: aging-resistance, safety, non-toxic and green. It is also known as the "green rubber". Baling Petrochemical has developed nearly 20 brands of SEBS products, which are mainly applied to fields such as: drug packaging, medical infusion equipment, food packaging, wire and cable and human-contact elastic materials. These products are also the major products according to our focus on national strategic emerging industries. SEBS produced by our foreign counterparts can be used to produce solid cycling tires, and for the urban shared bicycle economy. In 2014, some customers came to ask us about whether or not Baling SEBS can develop the same program.

According to customer demand, Research team in Baling Petrochemical Rubber Center applied the existing reserve patented technology to debugging different samples according to the proportion, in order to provide customers with samples in a short time. Soon, they received satisfaction response from customers. Solid tires made of Baling Petrochemical SEBS modified TPE are not only wear resistant but also comfortable while riding.

Since 2015, Baling Petrochemical Synthetic Rubber Division began mass producing and selling SEBS special grade products used for bicycle tires. In 2016, the two sets of SEBS installation all reached the capacity standard, with a production and sales volume of more than 40,000 tons, among which the production and sales volume of special grade products used for bicycle tires achieved more than 5,000 tons.
