LANXESS: Innovation drives the sustainable development of green tire
September 20th, 2017, Shanghai – The 17th International Exhibition on Rubber Technology, the leading event in China rubber industry and also known as RubberTech China, opened its curtain in Shanghai. Rhein Chemie, a business unit of the specialty chemicals company LANXESS, showcased its innovative solutions for tire and rubber industries at the fair.
LANXESS has adjusted its business structure after the acquisition of Chemtura in April this year, and the two business lines of Rubber Additives Business (RAB) and Colorant Additives Business (CAB) have been organized into BU Rhein Chemie, which is responsible for specialty chemicals including active ingredient compounds, specialty chemicals and processing aids for the rubber, plastics and colorants industries.
“We operate production sites in all relevant regions of the rubber world. This ensures access to local raw materials and flexible supply to our customers. Rhein Chemie Qingdao site, one of LANXESS’ global production and R&D centers, has been providing quality services to customers of APAC including China for almost 20 years.” Hans Werhonig, Head of Rhein Chemie APAC, said. He added that “With years of expertise, Rhein Chemie has been committed to develop the rubber goods technology. A part of the innovative chemicals will be produced in Rhein Chemie Qingdao site in the near future, in order to better serve the sustainable development of the Chinese market.”
Rhein Chemie showed a number of specialty chemicals and release agents as solutions for tire and rubber industries, such as its polymer-bound chemicals Rhenogran® , processing promoters Aktiplast® and Aflux®, specialty additives Vulcuren® and Perkalink® , release agents and tire marking paints Rhenodiv® and Rhenomark® and high-performance bladders for tire vulcanization Rhenoshape®.
Polymer-bound chemicals and additives Rhenogran was highlighted at the fair, which are widely applied to rubber products processing including tire, rubber industrial products and sports shoes. Rhein Chemie is not content with its traditional advantages, but to continue to develop new products to meet the needs of the market. Aktiplast GE2258 is a multi-functional and environment-friendly rubber peptizer, which can significantly reduce Mooney viscosity and improves the processability of the rubber compound. Rhenogran AP9 is a combination of accelerator and special chemical which can provide excellent reversion resistance performance. Rhenocure DR/S is a safe equivalent to replace toxic DPG in rubber formulations. Due to its aromatic free structure, Rhenocure DR/S doesn’t split off toxic aniline during rubber processing or vulcanization.
