On July 1, Shandong Sunsine Chemical Co., Ltd. witnessed its 40th anniversary of the establishment. On this meaning day, Sunsine Chemical held the “40th Anniversary & Innovation-driven, Win-win Cooperation & Fast Development Conference” in Shanxian County, Heze City, Shandong Province.
Creating Scale Variety Advantages
In 1977, the featured products of the former state-operated Shanxian Organic Chemical Plant were chemical solvent and reagent; in 1986, rubber antioxidant SP was developed, and the plant formally entered the production field of rubber chemicals; in 1994, it started the production of rubber accelerator M and DM. Since then, Sunsine Chemical has constantly increased the input in serial products of rubber chemicals, quickly expanding the enterprise scale, covering such serial products as accelerator, antioxidant and anti-scorching agent and creating a layout of high output, large scale, superior quality and complete variety.
Relying on the project construction, it continuously expands the product scale. Sunsine Chemical continuously expands the product output meeting the market demand and develops into one of the large-scale rubber chemicals manufacturers in the world whose production capacity in 2017 reaches 180,000 tons with product category covering more than 40 varieties in 5 categories from a plant which could only produce hundreds of tons of rubber chemicals at the beginning of foundation; and the plant scale develops from 39.72mu with one production workshop at the beginning of the foundation to more than 2,000mu with 5 plant areas and 25 production workshops at present.
While focusing on the development of new products, it continuously expands the production capacity of the existing products. From the initial annual output of 1,000 tons of single M products to the current annual output of 100,000 tons of serial accelerator products such as M, DM, CZ, NS, TMTD, D and DZ, it creates scale variety advantages for the company to participate in the market competition. In addition, under the leadership of the green development of the industry, the company places particular emphasis on the development of green production lines of rubber chemicals, including ten-thousand-ton CBS, NS, IS and RD as well as thirty-thousand-ton 4020 product. At present, Sunsine Chemical has built three production bases in Shanxian County, Weifang and Heze, in which the outputs of its main products such as accelerator TBBS and CBS all rank the first in the world. The advancement of the industrial concentration greatly improves the supply guarantee ability and increases the credibility and dependency on Sunsine Chemical of the clients at home and abroad.
In 2015, there were 2 enterprises with the annual sales amount exceeding RMB 2 Billion Yuan in the domestic rubber chemicals industry, and Sunsine Chemical was one of the two ones, whose production and sale of rubber accelerator products have ranked top in the world stably for many consecutive years, being the largest rubber accelerator manufacturer globally. To consolidate the variety advantages, this company continues expanding the production capacity of the insoluble sulfur products as well as antioxidant TMQ and 4020 products to improve the core competitiveness and keep the fast growth of output and sales income through constantly developing new products.
Since restructuring in 1998, Sunsine Chemical has realized the sales income of RMB 19.1 Billion Yuan accumulatively, which increased by 80 times; it has realized the profits and taxes of RMB 3.3 Billion Yuan accumulatively, which increased by 267 times; the paid taxes have increased by 147 times; the export delivery value has increased by 100 times; and the total assets have increased by 82 times. In 2016, the realized sales income of the company was RMB 2.25 Billion Yuan and the realized profits and taxes was RMB 466 Million Yuan with the earned foreign exchange through exports of nearly 800 Million Yuan. From January to May 2017, the realized sales income was RMB 1.12 Billion Yuan with the year-on-year growth of 30%; the realized export delivery value was RMB 364 Million Yuan with the year-on-year growth of 21.4%; and the realized profits and taxes was RMB 178 Million Yuan with the year-on-year growth of 8%.
Giving Wings of Innovation & Flourish
The development process of Sunsine Chemical is also the process of innovation. In 1994, the company established the enterprise policy which is “market-oriented, quality-based and economic benefit-centered to actively explore the new market, strive for developing new products and improve the quality of the enterprises in an all-round way”. By introducing senior professional and technical personnel, completing the technical development organizations, increasing the input in technical innovation and focusing on technology improvement and equipment improvement, it develops into a bellwether of the national rubber accelerator industry from a little known state-owned “three-small” enterprise only with over a staff of 30 people and the production value of more than RMB 200,000 Yuan at the establishment.
Sunsine Chemical pays attention to the introduction and cultivation of talents, focuses on the integration of production, study and research, and establishes close cooperative relationships with universities and colleges as well as scientific research institutions, for example, building a top-grade laboratory jointly with Qingdao University of Science and Technology which became a provincial technical development center at the end of 2005 and was also identified as “National Rubber Chemicals Engineering Research Center of Petroleum and Chemical Industry” by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association in 2014.
Nowadays, Sunsine Chemical Technical R&D Center has been a modern technical R&D base with a certain scale, whose building area is 2,700 m² with the investment in equipment and instruments of over RMB 10 Million Yuan. In addition, the R&D Center also invested RMB 2 Million Yuan to cooperatively build Qingdao Technical R&D Branch with Qingdao University of Science and Technology. In recent years, the R&D Center has successively undertaken such projects as National Science and Technology Support Program, National Torch Program and Key Special Technical Projects of Shandong, which ever won one First, Second and Third Prize of the Technical Progress Award of Chi- na Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association respectively, two Third Prizes of Shandong Technical Progress Award, and four First Prizes of Heze Technical Progress Award; besides, it also won 35 national patents, including 19 patents for invention and 16 patents for utility models.
The R&D Center is mainly committed to such projects as research of new products, development of green technologies, energy conversation and cost reduction, and its main projects include ten-thousand-ton high-performance insoluble sulfur project and thirty-thousand-ton antioxidant 4020 project. The projects under research and development include new green eco-friendly technologies such as M green technology, M-CBS green technology, DM technology by oxygen process and NS technology by oxygen process, in which DM technology by oxygen process has been applied, the research level of NS technology by oxygen process is leading the world, and new green technology and new product TBzTD of thiuram class has been put into production.
According to the market requirements and the higher demands for clean production of the international clients, Sunsine Chemical pays close attention to new clean nontoxic varieties, such as accelerator NS, vulcanizing agent IS, antioxidant RD, 4020 and 4010NA, which builds the oil treatment and prilling of serial accelerator products, introduces advanced pre-dispersed material production lines abroad and meets the requirements of overseas clients for products of clean production such as prilling, oilation and pre-dispersion.
The insoluble sulfur project uses composite solvent process to make the products with high thermal stability, which has superior technical advantages, avoids environmental pollutions, improves the production automation level, reduces the labor intensity and saves the production cost. This project has won many national patents, which not only fills the domestic gap, but also breaks the high dependence on imports of the insoluble sulfur with high thermal stability.
In 2015, Sunsine Chemical increased input in the production automation field, chose automation and intelligentization as its new start, made sales amount per capita, profit per capita and energy consumption of products per ton as its new target to develop towards sales income per capita of RMB 1.50 Million Yuan based on that of RMB 1.00 Million Yuan. By technical innovation and promotion of clean production technology, the energy consumption of the products per ton has reduced by 30%, and the greening rate of the products has exceeded 95%. At present, on the basis that the antioxidant basically realizes the centrally-controlled automatic production process, its products constantly transit from batch production to continuous production. With regard to technical innovation, it focuses on developing micro-chemical process of rubber chemicals and solves the stubborn problem of the high-salinity organic wastewater in rubber accelerators through the breakthrough in micro-chemical process to further realize the green production of rubber chemicals.
At present, the greening rate of the rubber chemical products of the company has reached 100%, and the main chemical products all meet the requirements of the EU REACH Regulation, providing safe and reliable products for the downstream enterprises and guaranteeing the health of the users.
Strengthening Brand to Realize the International Operation
On July 5, 2007, Sunsine Chemical was successfully listed in Singapore and realized the breakthrough of no listed enterprise in Heze. Since then, the company steps on the large-scale, normalized, collective and international road and becomes a listed company with the global vision.
By virtue of the public funds, the company has continuously expanded the production scale and made three big breakthroughs, which establishes a stable supply relationship with top 10 enterprises in both China and the world as well as a strong client group spreading over 700 clients in more than 40 countries.
