The Fourth-phase Expansion Project Was Signed for the Factory of Continental Tires (Germany) in Hefei

On July 5, the agreement-signing ceremony for the factory of Continental Tires (China) in Hefei was held in Hefei.

The current annual capacity of the factory of Continental (China) in Hefei is eight million tires for passenger cars and is expanding at a speed of producing two million more each year. It is the fastest growing manufacturing base in the Continental Group. The project covers a total area of up to 1,000 mu.

It is learned that the third-phase project of this factory was formally put into production on March 28 this year. The total investment for the factory in Hefei has already reached Euro 570 million. After the whole third-phase project reached the designed capacity in 2019, the annual capacity of tires for passenger cars produced in this base will rise to 14 million, and the number of employees will grow from the current 1,400 to 2,700. The newly signed fourth-phase project covers an area of about 270 mu with a planned investment of Euro 300 million. New production workshops and production lines for refining, extrusion, rolling, shaping, vulcanization, final inspection, etc. will be built along with supporting public auxiliary facilities like warehouses of raw materials, chemical storages and boiler rooms, which will contribute to an annual capacity of six million tires for passenger cars. After the fourth-phase project reached the designed capacity in 2022, the annual capacity of the factory in Hefei will reach 20 million tires for passenger cars. In addition to the two-wheeled vehicle project with an annual capacity of five million, the total annual sales revenue of tires will reach almost RMB tens of billions Yuan. The factory of Continental (China) in Hefei will be built into a headquarters base of the Continental Group that combines manufacturing base, trade settlement center and R&D center in the China Region into one.
