China to urgently promote green tyres

Beijing, China (Jun. 14, 2012) - A meeting on 30 May promoted the idea of 'green tyre' development in China. In particular, the CRIA-sponsored event discussed the options for building a new tyre test facility including tracks and handling circuits.

The meeting noted that over 50 testing grounds exist around the world, of which over 90 percent ore the private property of multi-national tyre makers, but no such facility exists in China, except for privately-held facilities owned by Bridgestone in Yixing (839,000 m²); by Continental in Heihe and Cheng Shin.
